I am grateful for..... our health system

This week I am Grateful for Australia's health system.

I know, I know our health system has a lot of flaws and needs some serious work

After this weeks emergency dash via ambulance to  hospital (read here)

I realised how lucky we are. I didnt have to worry about how I would pay for, the chest x-ray, the numerous blood tests, the ECG's,  the morphine and other drugs they gave me.
I just had to sign for my medicard number and that was it.

So I guess I am also grateful to our nurses (who need more support) and other medical staff.

Things I know- a hospital dash

From this week I know

I know waking up at 2.30am with crushing chest pains is horrifying
I know it took about  2 min before I decided I needed to wake The Miner
I know I had to order The Miner to call me an ambulance
I know on this request The Miner GOT OUT THE FREAKEN PHONEBOOK
I know I quickly told The Miner to call TRIPLE 000

I know I wanted to die just from the state of the house

I know just prior to the ambulance arriving The Miner decided to help me change into pants from my shorts
I know The Miner didnt think the undies I had on were appropriate.
I know The Miner went on a search for more 'sensible' undies for me to wear
I know if I hadnt of been in such pain the above events would have been more funny.

I know I could go on and on but
I know it gets a bit boring.

I know I wasnt having a heart attack
I know it was reflux related
I know I have to have more testing done.

Oh and I know when rushing out the door into the ambulance make sure you take an ipod for music and an ipad for entertainment.
As I know when the morphine kicks in it can get a bit boring. Though I did take a book

I know that coming home to a nice bed the next day was just wonderful

I know that Things I know is been held somewhere else this week.
So go over to Daisy, Roo and Two to see what others may know!

The little engine that could review and giveaway!

The Little Engine That Could

I think I can, I think I can.
I loved this story as a child and now it is a movie for our kids to enjoy

The movie is set in Dreamland, where the trains take dreams out to the children. The illustrations are great the story line is fun.
There is a scary part in the movie with the nightmare train, but hang in there and it all ends with a happy ending
The overall message is that no matter how small you are, if you try you can.

I liked the movie and it was fairly easy to watch. Mr Magoo didn't but if you follow my blog you know that is the norm (has a thing against movies in general). The Princess watched it in bits and I did edit out the nightmare train part. (We have enough issues with sleep)

The Little Engine That Could is available in stores. But if you would love to win a copy here is your chance!
Leave me a comment telling me: something you have achieved that you really had to work hard at.
For an extra entry like me on facebook and come back and tell me.

Gnomeo & Juliet review and giveaway

I finally got to see Gnomeo & Juliet. Yay!!

This is a movie I had really wanted to see at the movies, but it wasnt going to happen with Mr Magoo so it just didnt happen.
So when given the chance to review this as a DVD I was super excited (sadly doesnt take much to excite me these days)

Anyway we all know the story of Romeo & Juliet (and if you dont, google it and get out from that rock you have been living under)
Well the setting for this is 2 neighbouring gardens. Where Gnomeo's family is the blues and Juliet's family is the red who are at war with each other. And it does have a happy ending.

I liked this movie, it was full of bright colours, great aanimation, laughs and a fairly easy story line to follow. t there is a bit of a warning that if you aren't a huge Elton John fan than you may get a bit over the tunes in it
But all in all it was a cute spin on the Romeo and Juliet classic. And I loved the garden setting of it all.

Kids view. The Princess liked it, Mr Magoo didn't (but for him that is the norm)
The Miner was home when I was watching it and kept getting distracted and coming watch it too.

I have a copy of this DVD to giveaway.
So to be in a running to win leave a comment telling me your favourite flower or plant. (in keeping with the garden theme)
For another entry like me on facebook and come back and tell me.

Grateful for heating

This week I am grateful for fairly simple things in life.

Heating. Oh gosh it is so cold at the moment. Today outside our back door I doubt we have passed zero
So I am so very thankful for our gas heater wheich has been on all day.

Also the blogging world which gives me just so much

Things I know

A few things I know from this week

I know when hanging the washing when the temperature is below zero you develop an irrational  fear your fingers will snap as they are so freaken cold
After a while of hanging that said washing you just think, "stuff it" and stop haning it out and leave it for the next day.

I know husbands and children have very selective hearing and very short term memories
I am very over the previous mentioned fact.

I know I didnt get the house cleaned up this week like I wanted to.
I know the washing pile is never ending
I know I need to become more organised.
I know I am going to try and do a bit of a clean up this weekend (well I have high hopes)

I know I have a few giveaways coming up this week.

Grateful for

This week I feel I have to be grateful for my little family unit
The kids still may be a bit sick with this never ending vomiting, gastro bug

The Miner may be a bit grumpy from lack of sleep
And I may still be unorganised messy all over the place me
But we still have our little family unit and we are kinda happy with where our life is right now

Oh I also have to be grateful for our new iPad. Which technically is Mr Magoos but I am just loving it and thinking I may have to buy my own. Cause this blogging in bed with an iPad is so much easier than what it is with the laptop.

Things I know

I know snow is pretty

I know snow is cold

I know that with having a sick family you can seriously just loose a week or more.

That I used this pic for my Wordless Wednesday and it gave a lot of people a laugh so thought I would post it here to help share the chuckles

A sausage planking!
as stated by Mr Magoo at the end of tea one night

I know getting a mention on a post from another awersome blogger gives you an instant high
Check here Picklebums.  Thanks Kate

I know that I seriously am loving this new iPad that we have.
I know spending over a week stuck at home with sick kids, and you are sick too and The Miner on night shift at times is pure HELL

I know I am not the only blogger mummy who has been sick. There seems to be a fair bit of it going round

I don't know what to say to a 5 year old Mr Magoo when he asks "what's this mum?" and holds up a tampon that he has brought out from the bathroom
I am equally speechless when a 3 year old Princess asks if I need a mummy nappy and passes out a pad from the bathroom cupboard. ?????
I know that I need to put my personal items in a better spot to avoid any further embrassing questions from the kids

I know crochet is a good pass time when stuck on the lounge with sick kids
I know in the last week I have seen more Spanish speaking annoying kids shows ( Dora & Diego) to last me a lifetime
